Indiana winters are tough but St. Patrick’s Day signals that spring is right around the corner. Van Rooy’s participation in this holiday parade lifts employee spirits as they look forward to being a part of the fun this event brings to downtown Indianapolis. The 40th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Indianapolis took place on March 17th, 2022. Presented by the Hoosier Lottery and organized by the Athletic Club Foundation, this event includes Irish themed floats from local businesses and organizations as well as performances by marching bands and Irish dancers. Van Rooy has participated in the parade for decades, this year winning the President’s Award for Best Parade Float. But this holiday celebration runs deeper than just green shirts, gold candy, and a jolly leprechaun. Van Rooy is proud to be a longstanding sponsor of the event and the Athletic Club Foundation as it supports Indianapolis youth through athletics. They also invest in their company culture by inviting employee families to participate.
Employees and their families are encouraged to join in the parade every year. As they gather to await the start of the procession, they connect with fellow employees and enjoy the vibrant downtown atmosphere. Passing out candy to the lined streets and waving to the crowd is a fun and memorable way to experience the city where many of Van Rooy’s properties are located. After the short walk along Pennsylvania and Meridian Streets, Adam Van Rooy (owner) opens up his home where food and games for the kids are provided. A performance by a musician on bagpipes is always a crowd favorite. And as you look out across the sea of green Van Rooy shirts and St. Patrick’s Day spirit wear, you also see the company’s commitment to their employees by making this holiday celebration truly a family affair.
