Van Rooy Properties collected donations for The Villages of Indiana, the largest not-for-profit child and family services agency in the state, for the ninth year this Christmas. As a family-run company with strong family values, Van Rooy felt pulled to support a local organization committed to serving families and children and providing stability for vulnerable youth.
What started as a toy drive at Christmas has grown over the years. Now the drive includes not just toys for children, but household items, clothing, and gift cards to help multiple age groups. The amount that Van Rooy collects has increased each year with 2022 totaling over $6,500. This assists The Villages and its programs past Christmas, with the donations being used to support kids and family members through various life situations throughout the year. Van Rooy also sponsored a family of 10 this year. Each member received an outfit, hat and gloves, pajamas, slippers, new bedding, two gift cards of their choice, and three items off their individual wish lists.
Van Rooy encourages its employees in this drive each year by splitting their Indiana properties into three teams and having them compete against one another to collect the most items. Various offices invite their residents and vendors to participate, as well. The winning team receives lunch for their staff and bragging rights for the year. This spirited competition has been a huge success within the company and one that is looked forward to each Christmas.
